A personal piece for practice.

Hope you like it!

I could not sleep so I decided to do this life study before going to bed. It is from my childhood home in Gårdsjö, Sweden, during new years eve. One of the best days of my life.
It was a very grey overcast day so the colors were really tricky to capture but I thoroughly enjoyed painting it.

I am doing a lot of studies at the moment and need to try and get some of it down in the practical manner of actually painting it.

I tried to focus more on edges in this one, explaining the forms by drawing the shapes I see.
From imagination but photograph used as reference to aid with the lighting on the face.

I need to practice this a whole lot more :)

A Halloween piece we created at my company.
I tried to emulate a 1990s soft cover feel.
Inspired by the great Mike Mignola, thank you for the inspiration!

Time for another update.
I worked on this piece for quite some time, trying to gather some of what I´ve learned during the last couple of months.
I got some really good feedback and help from my friends Pep and Dave Neale on this one, thanks guys!

A peak at one of our projects at Opus Artz
I was trying to capture a specific personality with this one. A fun concept to work on and good practice for sure.

So, Applibot, Legend of the Cryptids fun!
These are the first pieces I am able to show from my new job at Opus Artz. Creating these illustrations were kind of a dicey ride but I learned tons from the first to the last one. Patience is a virtue and I am glad that I got a chance to plow quite a few hours into these.

I hope you like them,

Long time again since I updated but here we go.
I have now relocated to London, working at Opus Artz. London has so far treated me really well and I am excited about what is to come.
A lot of art has been created and I am excited to show what I have been working on but it will probably take some time yet.

I have started playing The Last of Us by Naughty Dog. Really great characters in the game. I am so thankful that there are still studios out there who pushes the boundaries of story in their games.
So naturally I had to create something based on their universe.

Very different from what I normally do but an interesting exercise. Using photos is not something I want to rely on as a crutch but it speeds up the process quite a bit.
It is still a very rough concept, more an exercise in speed than polish.

This is Wesley, before the outbreak he was a member of a gang and ended up in prison shortly before things went down the drain. Now he leads a small group of survivors and tries to make a better life for the other survivors he encounters.

I added the orange pants as a cue to his prison past and wanted really tried to give his face some character.

A personal concept, created to find myself again after a few years of freelance and fulltime work.

After being inspired by the awesome work from Oyo,, I decided to do a russian Lara Croft... with high heels T_T.
Mostly an exercise in rendering skin.

The Second mob boss. The Vulture.
This guy's in charge of resources and information gathering.

Friday, March 29, 2013

So, another project I am working on. Dog Town Mob Wars.
I will a set of characters, for starters the mob leaders. These will be based off of character function within the story and tying in animal traits that reflects those functions.

This is the Shark. He is a underboss to the big wig. He is a loan shark, hit man and enforcer. When the mob is serious about collecting their debts, this is the guy they send to do the collecting.

I hope you enjoy...

Some more sci fi stuff. I have been doing so much fantasy art at work for the last couple of years so I need to break out of that loop. Working with these kinds of materials are great fun.

So, it was my last day at Southend yesterday. It has been a great couple of years and I've had a lot of fun. Now it is time to move onto new challenges and try and push myself even further. So in about a month time I am moving abroad, really exciting and scary at the same time. Now I have a month to focus on practicing art preparing for the move. This is a WIP of a personal little project, more to come!

A quick piece I did today. Something to warm up and let my mind wander off for a bit. Similar to Tom Scholes work, so I'll give him credit here as well. Thank you for the inspiration! Enjoy...

A very quick test I did for the heck of it. Study is from a photo: I feel that it is a little too confused, need to get more confident in my strokes. But hey, practice makes perfect! Enjoy...

At home and sick so trying to paint to pass some time. I've been really into Joss Whedon lately. I plowed through 7 seasons of Buffy the Vampire slayer and towards the end the makeup got really good. So here is a tribute of sorts. A demon from the Buffy-verse, I call it a grinner demon. It kills its victims by slicing off the skin like a cheese grater and absorbing the underlying fat :3 I hope you like it!

Long time since the last update. I am keeping myself busy with work and freelance gigs however so art is being produced, just not showed. This guy was just something I wanted to get out of my system. Working with fantasy, year after year can be tiresome. I hope you like it!
